Is Apple Cider Vinegar as useful as they say? The answer is… - Manuka Honey Direct

Apple Cider Vinegar has been used since ancient times for cooking and medicinal purposes, including cleaning, preserving food and also in all sorts of cooking recipes.

What benefits could apple cider vinegar bring to my body?

The sugar in apples is fermented to make apple cider vinegar. They then turn into acetic acid, a key component of vinegar that is responsible for its health benefits, alongside the “mother” (the natural bits you see in quality Apple Cider Vinegars).  This super ‘food’ is packed full of 100% natural bacteria, enzymes and minerals which are useful in helping to fight toxins and bacteria within the body, as well as aiding with digestion discomfort and helping with controlled weight loss.

Apple Cider Vinegar is useful in 4 key ways:

    A. Anti-Bacterial Properties

Acetic acid, the primary component of vinegar, can kill or prevent hazardous germs from multiplying. It's been used as a disinfectant and natural preservative throughout history & in different civilisations, before disinfectant was invented.

    B. Help Battle Diabetes

Apple cider vinegar has proved to be effective in enhancing insulin sensitivity which in turn, helps to lower your blood sugar levels. Generally speaking, those with low insulin sensitivity often develop Diabetes and require additional Insulin via medication to keep their blood sugars stable.  By having a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar after every meal, it helps to keep your blood sugars stable and has an added benefit where it makes you feel fuller for longer, which helps in resisting those tempting treats!

    C. Weight Loss

According to studies, vinegar can make you feel fuller and eat less calories, as well as encouraging the body to burn stored fat cells, all of which over time, may contribute to weight loss.

    D. Arthritis and Joint problems

Consuming Apple Cider Vinegar also helps to reduce the pain and inflammation in your joints and is widely used by the explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes in his arthritis battle.  But, you can also apply apple cider vinegar to your joints directly by using a cloth soaked in this amazing superfood. Just cover the wet cloth with a dry cloth to keep the heat in and let it work it’s magic!

So what’s the best dosage for my needs?

Dilute 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 mL) a day in a big glass of water.
